PE-21-IVECO Module – Installation Instructions
The PE-21-IVECO Module was designed to upgrade power on all Iveco 8.7L, 10.3L, & 12.9L engines. This unit will provide an extra 55HP up to 135HP gain in usable horsepower and a corresponding torque output of 15-45%, with improved fuel economy and engine efficiency.
IVECO Engines (Except 2009-Up STX485 – ECU is on the right side of the engine)
1. Locate the ECU on your engine (Photo 1)
2. Unplug your existing wiring harness connector from the ECU.
3. Insert your large PE-21-IVECO wiring harness connectors in between the ECU and the factory wiring harness. These are Male & Female connectors that match your factory connectors.
4. Connect the Red wire, from the PE-21-IVECO harness, to your switched 12-Volt Power source, conveniently located at the heater power block (Photo 2)
5. Connect the Black wire from the PE-21-IVECO harness to a good ground source, at the same location. (Photo 2)
Optional – Changing Power Settings – “Fine Tuning” the Module
a. You can also change these settings, if you wish, in the event the engine produces excessive smoke, has low rpm operation problems, or if you desire more or less power than 60HP.
b. NOTE: If your module is connected to your vehicle - be sure to turn OFF the Ignition Switch - First!
c. The Power Settings are visible from the side of the module. (See Photo 3).
d. Using a T10 Torx bit, remove the 4 Module bottom cover screws. (See Photo 4).
e. There are 4 ‘Programs’, or different power levels, in this module, as follows: (NOTE: Refer to Photo 5, for details)
f. Program 1 = 60HP. This is the default program for the module, and this is the way the module was shipped to you, unless you have requested a specific power level. For Program 1, DO NOT install a Red jumper on either of these pins.
g. You can modify the power, from any of the Programs, by moving the Blue ‘ADJUSTMENT’ Jumper, on the right side set of pins, labeled as ‘HIGH ßà LOW’. The BLUE Jumper is installed in the middle, or 0% change, on the Adjustment Pins, as shown in Photo 5. The Blue Jumper placement EITHER ADDS or SUBTRACTS POWER from the Program Pin Setting.
h. Program 1 can be adjusted down to 54HP or up to 66HP by moving the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper.
i. Program 2 = 80HP. See Photo 5 - Install the Red Jumper (Oriented Up and Down, similar to the Blue Jumper) on the Left Set of Program Pins. You can now modify the power for Program 2, by using the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper, as shown in Photo 5.
j. Program 3 = 100HP - Install the Red Jumper on the Right Set of Program Pins. You can now modify the power for Program 3, by using the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper. Program 3 can modified down to 90HP or up to 110HP, by using the Blue Jumper on the Adjustment Pins, as shown in Photo 5.
k. Program 4 = 125+HP - - WARNING! Do not use this setting unless you have an EGT Gauge installed! Check with your Illinois Dyno Center rep BEFORE YOU USE THIS SETTING! See Photo 5 - Install the Red Jumper on BOTH SETS of Program Pins. You can now modify the power for Program 2, by using the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper. Program 2 can be modified down to 105HP or up to 135HP, by using the Blue Jumper on the Adjustment Pins.
The PE-21-IVECO Module will deliver the Best All-Around POWER –and- Fuel Economy, with the Module set on either Program 1 or Program 2.
DO NOT USE Program 4 if you are loading the engine heavily, such as pulling in clay or dense soil, without the installation of an EGT Gauge. You will need to monitor your EGT Gauge when using Program 4, to keep your EGT’s below 1300F.
NOTE: When installing an EGT Gauge, always install the pyrometer in the exhaust manifold, near the turbo flange, and ‘in front of’ the turbocharger.
NOTE: Photos are NOT included on this website page. Complete Instructions WITH Photos are included with each module. We can also FAX or EMAIL these instructions to you.
1. Locate the Engine’s Fuel Rail, on the Driver’s (Front) Side of the Engine (if you are standing at the engine’s flywheel).
2. The Fuel Rail is a long silver tube, about 3/8” diameter, that runs along the full length of the engine, and is located alongside the bottom edge of the valve cover.
3. Locate the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor, located at the front of the Fuel Rail, and behind the Intake Manifold. The Rail Pressure Sensor will use a 3-wire connector from the wiring harness. (similar to the PE-22 connector)
3. Unplug the connector from the sensor, at the fuel rail. The latch must be depressed to release the connector from the sensor. Do NOT pull on the wires, and do NOT break the locking mechanism of this connector / sensor.
Your PE-22-IV59L Module is pre-set to provide an additional 30% Increase.
Optional – Changing Power Settings – “Fine Tuning” the Module
a. You can also change these settings, if you wish, in the event the engine produces excessive smoke, has low rpm operation problems, or if you desire more or less power than 30%.
b. NOTE: If your module is connected to your vehicle - be sure to turn OFF the Ignition Switch - First!
c. The Power Settings are accessible from the end of the module, as shown, in Photo 1. Please note the 2 jumper terminals, on the left side of the module, labeled “Program”.
d. Using a T10 Torx bit, remove the Module end cover, per Photo 2.
e. There are 4 ‘Programs’, or different power levels, in this module, as follows: (NOTE: Refer to Photo 3, for details)
f. Program 1 = 30%.
The BLUE Jumper is installed in the middle, or 0% change, on the Adjustment Pins, as shown in Photo 2 or Photo 3. The Blue Jumper placement EITHER ADDS or SUBTRACTS POWER from the Program Pin Setting.
h. Program 1 can be adjusted down to 27% or up to 33% by moving the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper. (+10% of the 30% Program, or 3% Change)
i. Program 2 = 35%. See Photo 3 - Install the Red Jumper on the Left Set of Program Pins. You can now modify the power for Program 2, by using the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper. Program 2 can be modified down to as little as 31.5% or up to 38.5%, by using the Blue Jumper on the Adjustment Pins, as shown in Photo 3.
j. Program 3 = 40% - WARNING! Do not use this setting unless you have an EGT Gauge installed! Check with your Illinois Dyno Center rep BEFORE YOU USE THIS SETTING! Install the Red Jumper on the Right Set of Program Pins. You can now modify the power for Program 3, by using the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper. Program 3 can modified down to 36% or up to 44%, by using the Blue Jumper on the Adjustment Pins, as shown in Photo 3.
Program 4 = 20%. See Photo 3 - Install the Red Jumper on BOTH SETS of Program Pins. You can now modify the power for Program 2, by using the Blue Adjustment Pin Jumper. Program 2 can be modified down to as little as 18% or up to 22%, by using the Blue Jumper on the Adjustment Pins, as shown in Photo 3.
